Telehealth Physical Therapy for evaluation and treatment of pelvic health and musculoskeletal symptoms; instruction in self care, manual therapy and home exercise programs.
Pelvic Health Physical Therapy (PHPT) includes external and internal evaluation of the pelvic floor muscle, nerves and pelvic girdle. Interventions may include these modalities: manual therapy, biofeedback, dilator and wand therapy, electric stimulation, TENS, vagal nerve stimulation, and balloon sensory retraining. Pelvic PT addresses symptoms of urinary or fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor weakness, pudendal neuralgia, pre- and post-prostatectomy, pre- and post-natal, digestive and defecatory dysfunction, sexual dysfunction and pelvic pain, and gender reassignment rehabilitation.
Biofeedback is neuro-muscular reeducation to improve body-mind awareness of the pelvic floor muscle, to retrain relaxation, lengthening, strengthening, coordination and agility. All of these contribute to improved control of the pelvic floor muscle, including bladder, bowel and sexual function and reducing pelvic pain. Home biofeedback units are available with external or internal sensors and video apps to facilitate learning and body awareness of the pelvic floor muscle in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Biofeedback is one of the best supported evidence-based research of PHPT.
Pilates Reformer and Trapeze (Cadillac) apparatus are fabulous machines which facilitate mind-body exercise for stretching, strengthening, core conditioning and balance training. Adaptable to any age and any degree of ability or disability, Pilates progresses you from wherever you start, and keeps you in top physical condition. You will notice that you being to move differently, with greater awareness, in all aspects of your life, and you will feel invigorated, longer and leaner with each session!
Manual Therapy may include soft tissue mobilization, trigger-point release, myofascial release, down-training of hypertonia, desensitization, and scar tissue release to restore pelvic floor and abdominal function.
Aquatic Physical Therapy includes hands-on mobilization and traction, therapeutic exercise including deep water jogging and total body conditioning using ankle and wrist floatation devices based on NYC Ballet's Allegra Kent's Water Beauty Exercises. Direct Results: core conditioning, strengthening and stretching are maximized without joint compression. You'll feel taller, stronger, more flexible and energized! Perfect for pre-/post-op, arthritis, pre-/post-pregnancy, and high-level athletes, too.
Ergonomic Evaluations of your home office or business site are available upon request. Measurements and recommendations for office furniture, adaptive devices, computer components and postural supports will be made so that your environment conforms to your body, not the other way around. In addition, instructions for "undoing" work-related postures and habitual movement patterns will be recommended.
